The "Drama" Empty
PostSubject: The "Drama"   The "Drama" EmptyMon Sep 05, 2011 10:18 pm

Since I was off staff and some what busy with Kelcie over here I had a chance to look at things from a member's point of view.

Everyone is at fault. I am not putting "blame" on everyone but essentially saying that everyone has been -at some point- a cause in this whole clusterfuck. Now I do agree that Scott has been one of the more bigger issues, but it's not like we have not trolled or made a mistake, or power abused before. We're all guilty.

1) Scott did try his best to put honest work in and even though his system was not chosen to be implemented in the site, he should have not acted as he did. However, we have to realize that we can't just get rid of something -that could have been tweaked to perfection- in order to 'make things easier.' In this role-playing community there are fucks like TSF that exist that come on, fuck shit up and abuse everything that is vague and force the site to change around a bit. Now, he has blame on his end, but at one point he was legitimately trying to be a functioning member of this site. However in fairness sake, his actions have shit on everything he has done good.

2) Branden had some issues and agreed with Scott. The most he did was troll a bit the situation that happened last night. He's been a small part in this, but still has blame in a way.

3) Demon of the mist has been playing big hand in this. Demon straight up trolled me on NarutoRev. I mean, I was nothing but pure, honest and nice and he trolled the shit out of me. I didn't do anything to him before or after the trolling. So the admins on NarutoRev should have handled Demon for that. If scott was banned for trolling, why didn't demon get in trouble after he trolled me? Demon has been trolling on SR as well and it's been ignored. In a sense, it has been introducing a bias by not controlling him as well. You are basically presenting the outside image that., "because scott trolled we banned him, but if our members troll its never as bad as scott and they will just get a warning or something simple." The longer you guys let demon do what he does, the more scott has evidence that he is only being provoked. If demon was banned when he started trolling, scott would have probably not have escalated this to the point it is at. And since demon was not really punished as scott was, he can assume that no staff member is not going to do anything about it but punish him, so he is forced to think that he should handle the matter his own way. Because demon has been left off by anyone and everyone that could have (the staff team at the time besides me) its' like you all hate him and what him to go away. You have to admit that something should have been done by demon.

At some point in time, everyone involved in this situation could have done something better than what they actually did. For instance when I asked demon to fight. When trey was messaged early in the morning, etc etc. We all could have done something to make the situation better and did something that could make it easier on everyone.

What I propose is a clean slate. Since everyone is techncially "dirty" we all need to start on a clean slate. No one reading this should be thinking "I did nothing" because most of us -no matter how little- have done something. Whether it was what you typed to how you handled it...

That's why I'm going for clean slate

Here are some other things I should say too.

You know one reason why we always have drama?? It's because we never have clear cut rules or punishments on what is wrong and what is right. The rules are not in depth. They're just a vague general guideline. In a way, we asked for.

So what I have proposed is a system.

1) You cannot... CANNOT cannot let this info leak outside of staff. We will make an SRAdmin2 acc.
2) We will (ill post them up) make CLEAR rules on what is, and what isnt acceptable behavior.
3) the SRAdmin2 will "be a person who does not RP, there reinforcing an idea of of a fair/unbiased person
a) this person will just be josi since he is the most fiar/unbiased person
4) enforce the report system (makes it easier for josi)

We also need to edit/and pm.

If you edit a post for trolling or being problematic, then what you need to do is edit it out, and then tell the person why you did so. it keeps them from thinking "WTF did i do CONSPIRACY!!!"

but just tell me your opinions so far. Think about it though, do we really think our rules are enough after all that has happened?

Also what happens on site should be separated from what happens on IM's.

If Trey trolls the fuck out of Vito after work, Vito cannot get Trey fired. He merely has to ignore him outside of work and move on, waiting for the moment trey slips up and trolls him at work.

Peers & Staff
    Respect
Be respectful to everyone. This the number one rule here. From Wiki: "Respect denotes both a positive feeling of esteem for a person or other entity (such as a nation or a religion), and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem. Respect can be a specific feeling of regard for the actual qualities of the one respected (I have great respect for her judgment). It can also be conduct in accord with a specific ethic of respect. Rude conduct is usually considered to indicate a lack of respect, disrespect, where as actions that honor somebody or something indicate respect."

    No Bashing
Bashing is a harsh, gratuitous, prejudicial attack on a person, group or subject. Literally, bashing is a term meaning to hit or assault. This label is applied to criticisms that are not inappropriate. No bashing people of any race, sex, religion or even orientation. No bashing other sites, if you don't like it don't mention it in a insulting manner. No bashing manga or characters. If you think Sasgay is an emo-fag then keep it to yourself. Constructive discussion on a character is allowed though. No harassing people through PM's or any sort of site-based communication. Remember, the Staff has the decision to determine what is and isn't bashing and will act accordingly.

    No Chat Speak
This is a role-play site, we pride ourselves on being the best writers in our homes, local areas, schools and maybe even our entire state. If you're caught using chat-speak in role-play expect to have The Staff tell you about it.

    No Spamming/Picture Spamming
This is not 4chan or FunnyJunk. There's a difference between posting pictures in a comedic way in discussion topic made for laughs only (ex. Post your funny pictures here) and flat out trying to troll someone. Excessive spamming will not be tolerated and any posts will be deleted. Anyone who makes a habit of posting short, spam-like posts will be warned. Keep doing it and you eventually will cruise your way to a perma-ban. Remember, the Staff has the right to determine what is and isn't spamming.

    No Fighting
Do not fight with other members. If you do so you're going to skip from warning and go straight to infraction or ban. If you have a problem, you can solve it in a simple, calm and private message to a member of the Staff. They will help you resolve the situation.

    No Flame/Flamebaiting
You are not to 'flame' others. (Flaming refers to pointless points saying things along the lines of 'that's stupid, you're an idiot, that doesn't make sense, etc. or constantly telling someone that what they're doing is wrong or giving negative comments excessively.) In all negative comments you must be able to explain why you think said thought or idea is wrong or 'pointless' in a way that does not provoke others into arguing with you/causing unnecessary problems.

    No Mini-Modding
Unless you are apart of the Staff team you have no business trying to act like or impersonate a mod. There is a difference between a gentle nudge in the right direction, but posting up rules and shoving them in someones face is not the right way to go.

    Report, Don't Respond
Report the posts that are causing issues. Do not respond to them. Responding to a problematic post is just as bad as contributing to the problem itself. Let the Staff handle it.

Forum Decorum
    Be Kind
We want this nice community here to grow and prosper. If you make a lot of offensive posts, you'll only end up getting banned in the future. Don't be immature and silly.

    Post Smart
Remember to make your posts thoughtful and always try showcase your skill as an author. If we think that you are intentionally looking to start trouble or to annoy people, don't expect either your thread or posts to last very long.

Infraction System
    Here's how it works:
Breaking the rules obviously carries penalties. Depending on your track record, (good or bad) you may receive an infraction points or just a warning. Remember that a warning is being nice... Most of the time you will receive an infraction. You will get a PM listing what rule was broken and if you are being given a warning or points; this comes from the moderator giving the infraction. The majority of the time for newcomers a warning is usually given. Warnings don't affect you in any way. When you receive an infraction you will be given points with that infraction. The mod giving the infraction will send you a message of how many points you have. They also come with an expiration date on them. Most will expire in one to two weeks and points vary depending on what happened. The lowest given is 3. If you accumulate 10 active points against your account (that have not expired) then you will automatically receive a one week ban. The more points you receive, the longer the ban, the longer the expiration date, the more the chance that you have of slipping up. Eventually one week bans lead into two weeks, into months and so on. Ignorance is not an excuse of the rules.

The "Drama" Empty
PostSubject: Re: The "Drama"   The "Drama" EmptyTue Sep 06, 2011 8:29 pm

Now this is my plan.

The SRAdmin2 will have a sticky thread in the staff lounge. They (if Josi needs help or whoever is working on it, I suggest at least two people) What they will do is keep track of the reported posts.

For a reported post, you will view the problem and then moderate it. Then you will come to the sticky thread (with everyones name on it) and edit in what they did wrong (X points received/Time start-time end/What rule was broken) and then we can keep our own personal records and determine who is actually causing more problems.

Then you find the person making the problem.... Quote their post and send it to them in a message along with (x points received/time start-time end/what rule was broken) and send it to them. Remember there is no way to fight it, so don't worry about them messaging you about fighting it. Just send it and be done with it.

Then you edit the problem post right after and delete all the content that was causing trouble. Example.

Samuel L. Jackson wrote:
LOL, dude for starter you seriously make me laugh. I don't know if its that you really think your awesome or if you really are trying to be funny but everything you posts makes me laugh. From you weird rp threads to your random threads where you complain about things. You seriously make me laugh.

But this isn't even an app, its less than a worrk in progress its not even an rp app. It probably will change a few times before this site goes up. But either way its just missing the word isn't. But thanks for pointing it out and thanks for the laugh. Oh and most importantly thank you for going through my entire app that I did in like 3 seconds, just to find a mistake. You really are a nice young person under all the trollling and complaining. Thankk you!

owo I think it seems fine. Though I think we're a bit lenient with the infraction system.

I just think that letting them come back after one week and then they doing it again goes to two weeks and so forth is just... too lenient. O.o I mean... after being banned once after a week and they do it again then they should just be banned forever or at least a month. I mean one week is enough to make them think seriously. If they come back and start shit again after their week ban is up then they should just get the hell off the site.

Second i think that letting them expire is fine... though they should just get three chances, or like three strikes against them instead of like ten. I mean lets use demon as an example. Say he decided to fight with scott on the chat. That would be one strike and I would tell him what he did wrong through pm. Then if he ignored me and did it again he'd get one more. So on and so forth. He'd be banned for a week and if he came back and started shit again, like he most likely would then he'd just be banned for life after a pm stating that he had a second chance and he blew it. That would be simpler and he wouldn't disrupt others more than four times.

If we did it with the way it's stated now he'd get like four times or MORE before he was banned for a week. Then he'd come back and he'd have to get his points back up to ten again, meaning that he'd be messing with alot of people and causing a lot of problems. I think it's just too lenient.

PostSubject: Re: The "Drama"   The "Drama" EmptyWed Sep 07, 2011 6:02 pm

The system is designed to allow members to learn and grow from mistakes. Remember hardcore trollers that we know specifically can be perma banned on the spot (i think perma bans or any level of ban should be brought up in staff for hard core trollers/problematic people just to make sure people arent being banned subjectively) because of this little clause.

" Remember, the Staff has the right to determine what is and isn't spamming."

And by increasing the length of an active infraction, it makes it harder for people to slip by. The longer the infraction is the more they have to wait and actually be good for it to expire. If demon decides he wants to "troll again" once his points expire then that means we have three weeks where demon didn't troll.

This will not affect most people though.

EDIT: As in most people will never be as bad as demon/scott etc
