NINKEN
Ninken Summons Ninken-1

Basic Information

Ninken (忍犬; "Ninja Hounds") are essentially dogs that have a decent chakra supply and thus are able to work with ninja. Some, such as Pakkun and Kuromaru, even develop the ability to talk. Although the dogs belonging to the members of the Inuzuka clan are ninken, the phrase is usually used in reference to the summonings themselves.

    FACTS

Body Composition: Dogs are predators and scavengers, and like many other predatory mammals, the dog has powerful muscles, fused wrist bones, a cardiovascular system that supports both sprinting and endurance, and teeth for catching and tearing. Dogs are highly variable in height and weight. The smallest known adult dog was a Yorkshire Terrier, that stood only 6.3 centimeters (2.5 in) at the shoulder, 9.5 cm (3.7 in) in length along the head-and-body, and weighed only 113 grams (4.0 oz). The largest known dog was an English Mastiff which weighed 155.6 kilograms (343 lb) and was 250 cm (98 in) from the snout to the tail. The tallest dog is a Great Dane that stands 106.7 cm (42.0 in) at the shoulder. This range makes each dog useful in its own way.

Vision: Like most mammals, dogs are dichromats and have color vision equivalent to red-green color blindness in humans (deuteranopia). Dogs are less sensitive to differences in grey shades than humans and also can detect brightness at about half the accuracy of humans. Their visual discrimination for moving objects is very high; dogs have been shown to be able to discriminate between humans (e.g., identifying their owner) at a range of between 800 and 900 meters. However, this range decreases to between 500 and 600 meters if the object is stationary. Where there is light, the dog has a better advantage at spotting their foe over humans without the use of amplifiers.

Hearing: The frequency range of dog hearing is approximately 40 Hz to 60,000 Hz,which means that dogs can detect sounds far beyond the upper limit of the human auditory spectrum. In addition, dogs have ear mobility, which allows them to rapidly pinpoint the exact location of a sound. Eighteen or more muscles can tilt, rotate, raise, or lower a dog's ear. A dog can identify a sound's location much faster than a human can, as well as hear sounds at four times the distance.

Smell: While the human brain is dominated by a large visual cortex, the dog brain is dominated by an olfactory cortex. The olfactory bulb in dogs is roughly forty times bigger than the olfactory bulb in humans, relative to total brain size, with 125 to 220 million smell-sensitive receptors. The bloodhound exceeds this standard with nearly 300 million receptors. Dogs can discriminate odors at concentrations nearly 100 million times lower than humans can. The wet nose is essential for determining the direction of the air current containing the smell.

Coat: The coats of domestic dogs are of two varieties: "double" being common with dogs (as well as wolves) originating from colder climates, made up of a coarse guard hair and a soft down hair, or "single", with the topcoat only. Domestic dogs often display the remnants of counter shading, a common natural camouflage pattern. A counter shaded animal will have dark coloring on its upper surfaces and light coloring below, which reduces its general visibility. Thus, many breeds will have an occasional "blaze", stripe, or "star" of white fur on their chest or underside.

    SKILLS

No Handsigns Due to ninken not possessing hands these summonings have been taught how to utilize their chakra in a manner that they can still perform jutsu without hand signs. The closest they sometimes manage to get to making handsigns is that they draw their front paws together to focus.

Senses: As mentioned in the facts section, dogs have a far more powerful sense of smell, sight, and hearing than humans. This makes them powerful hunters or trackers - making them very valuable for ninja.

Free Thinking Mind: Most summonings may even follow their summoner due to the fact they don't have much of a mind to retaliate with. However, dogs are known possess a social intelligence which is uncommon in the animal kingdom. Most of the time a dog follows its master only because of loyalty; not because they cannot think of for themselves. Due to this trait they are capable of not only following commands but acting on their own accord. Proper training is needed between canine and summoner so that the dog does not do as it pleases. This may cost a mission, fight, life, etc in the wrong scenario.

Speech: Some dogs are capable of human speech aside from talking between the other canines. This makes them useful in many ways: such as relaying information, whether it be to the summoner or someone else, etc.

Natural Speed: Dogs are created for various uses. When it comes to those built for speed, they are truly made for it. The fastest known breed is the Greyhound which is said to date back thousand of years in the Naruto realm and can travel at up to speeds matching that of a master taijutsu user. Average speeds that average dogs can travel match Jounin levels (Non Tai). Smaller breeds travel typically slower because of their smaller legs so they can typically run between Genin and Chunin speeds; some can run at Jounin speed on rare occasions. Larger and bulkier breeds are typically slower as well, unless specifically made for speed. Typically the larger breeds were made for strength but if designed for speed the points vary.

Swimming: Dogs are capable of swimming.

Tracking: Dogs are natural born hunters and with their body compositions and senses combined they make good trackers. They mostly rely on their sense of smell but this does not mean their other senses cannot be used.

Adaptability: There is a dog species made for just about everything. Also, because these are ninken, they are more able to adapt to different conditions. Whether you're in the snowy mountain peaks, a dense tropical fores, or blazing hot desert there is normally a ninja dog that can be used. This is good to know when you truly wish to summon a breed.

Summonings

Summoned Creature: Pakkun
Rank: D

Appearance: Pakkun is miniature pug with brown fur and a dark brown snout and ears. He has pink-coloured paws on his feet; which is commonly found in puppies.

Spoiler:

Description: Despite his small size, Pakkun has shown to be a very useful summon. He has been repeatedly shown to have an incredibly sharp sense of smell, even by canine standards. He can regularly determine what type of scent he is picking up, how far away it is, and how dangerous the person is within a 500 meter range. When it comes to speed, Pakkun is a rare exception to those with small legs. He is known to be able to travel just as fast as the fastest breed (Greyhound) simply because this is almost all he has worked on his entire life. Due to his short stature, whenever he is summoned with the other ninken, he appears on top of Bull's head, as opposed to the others, who always appear on the ground. Pakkun is not a battle-type breed and therefore can not be used in combat. He may used anytime but once there is the chance of a fight he must be de-summoned immediately.

Specialty: Taijutsu
Element: None
Jutsu:
Spoiler:

Summoned Creature: Shiba
Rank: C

Appearance: He has light grey fur with a white underside and a black crest on his head reminiscent of a mohawk. His eyes slightly resemble those of Kisame Hoshigaki. He also wears a Konoha forehead protector around his neck and bandages on his front legs.
Spoiler:

Description: Shiba is known as both a messenger dog and battle dog. When it comes to his personality, Shiba is rather outgoing and always ready to attack someone. He can be stubborn too but rarely big headed. Needles to say he is always on his toes and ready to go. React first, think later, can sometimes be in his agenda so a strong bond with the summoner is required to keep him at bay. Normally one must be a rank higher than him to fully get him to listen and give respect. The more he is summoned and the more he works with his summoner, the better. Shiba also loves to run and feel the wind in his fur; making him want to just go off and do his own thing sometimes. Aside from that, in battle, this need to run has made him built for speed and due to his colors, which have been said to resemble the wind, he even goes by "White Wind". Shiba is good to use for distractions due to his speed (B rank) and obvious white and gray coat. Given that the summoner can get him to listen. He has less jutsu than other summons because he is mainly built on speed for both battling and sending messages.

Specialty: Ninjutsu
Element: Fire
Jutsu:
Spoiler:

Summoned Creature: Bisuke
Rank: C

Appearance: He has tan-coloured fur with brown highlights on his long ears and legs. He bears an uncanny resemblance to Gaara with a kanji imprinted on his head and dark rings around his eyes. However, where Gaara has the kanji for "love" (愛, ai), Bisuke has the kanji for "shinobi" (忍). He wears a Konoha forehead protector around his neck.
Spoiler:

Description: Bisuke is a rather noble dog with a strategic nature. However, when it comes to his summoner, he can act very sly and hide things behind the owners back. Bisuke is built more for Stamina. Normally when you hit a summoning hard enough it may de-summon but when it comes to this pooch he will stand back up and bite back. Normally he can take a hit from someone with a little above average punch. Any chakra enhanced punch of a punch above average and Bisuke will de-summon like any other but anything less and he'll keep trucking; given it isn't anything that might actually break him. Bisuke barely reveals any emotions and tries his best to live up to the shinobi rules and conduct. This explains the kanji tattoo on his forehead. Bisuke is able to notice when he is in a genjutsu faster than his master is. He can sense any scent based genjutsu since he has such a strong nose. It takes a bit longer with other genjutsu.

Specialty: Genjutsu
Element: None
Jutsu:
Spoiler:

Summoned Creature: Urushi
Rank: B

Appearance: Urushi has white and beige fur, along with long spiky tufts of hair on his head. His eyes greatly resemble traditional Japanese angry eyes.
Spoiler:

Description: Urushi is a fierce battle warrior. This much is obvious in his appearance. He is not afraid to rip your arm off and tear into skin which makes him the perfect candidate for the Tracking Fang ability he possesses. Urushi, once he bites someone, will do whatever he can to not let go. If he doesn't make someone bleed in a fight then he is unhappy and will not obey his master as much; unless of course the master can woop his bum. Urushi obviously needs some obedience and kindness training for his mind always says "fight fight fight" and "kill kill kill" but this isn't always a bad thing. He is rather strategic and rarely gets caught up in any attack, his main training based around his maneuvering skills. Urushi plans to become the leader one day but the other Ninken agree he is too big headed to ever achieve such a possess. This is another reason Urushi seems so infuriated all the time.

Specialty: Ninjutsu
Element: Doton | Earth
Jutsu:

Spoiler:

Summoned Creature: Ūhei
Rank: B

Appearance: Ūhei is brown with a white underside and snout. He also wears a Konoha forehead protector around his neck and sports bandages around his neck and head.
Spoiler:

Description: Ūhei is very calm, cool, and collective. The Ninken, whom enjoy this nature, agree that he should be the next leader. This ticks Urushi off and explains why Urushi dislikes Ūhei but what the others don't know is that Ūhei doesn't wish to become the next leader. He is rather lazy and laid back like Shikamaru - intelligence being his area of training. Ūhei prefers not the fight but does so anyway. Unlike the other dogs, whom have specific areas they are good at, Ūhei mostly has his intelligence. His strength is his most known skill but most of it only lies in his jaws. This makes him a good candidate for the Tracking Fang technique. For his bite is strong enough to break some of the stronger bones in most humans; not necessarily the strongest though.

Specialty: Ninjutsu
Element: Wind
Jutsu:

Spoiler:

Summoned Creature: Guruko
Rank: A

Appearance: He has tan fur, a white snout, long ears that have a dark brown color and whisker marks similar to Naruto Uzumaki. He wears a Konoha forehead protector on his forehead.
Spoiler:

Description: Guruko is a humorous dog who is always laughing about something. Even if the joke is terrible, this guy turns into a chuckling hyena. This makes his good for ticking off opponents in fights because he will laugh at them too; especially if they miss. No one can explain what's so funny and thus they stopped questioning it. Despite the common belief that everything is a joke to Guruko, he actually does have a serious side and is a very strong dog. He may not be built around strength like Bull and may not be as fast as Pakkun, but this dog isn't weak. His stamina, or chakra amount, is his most known trait. He has a good control of it as well and can normally spill out two more A ranks than what most A ranks are typically allowed. Overall though he is fairly well rounded in the other fighting skills.

Specialty: Ninjutsu
Element: Fire
Jutsu:

Spoiler:

Summoned Creature: Bull
Rank: A

Appearance: Bull is a very large dog summoning; bigger than the average bull dog. He has dark fur and wears a spiked collar. To most he looks very intimidating; seeing as how he can even take down full grown men with his strength and size.

Spoiler:

Description: Bull is a massive and intimidating bull dog. Unlike most dogs whom are known for their speed, Bull's stats are very low. He has trouble keeping up with most Genin because he is such a power house. His build makes his Dexterity low as well. His stamina is about B rank but this is all because of all the training he went through to make his strength so high (S rank level). If Bull's jaws were to lock around any part of your body, they are capable of breaking bones (even the femur) and ripping muscle with ease. Aside from this, his massive body makes it easy for him to even hold down full grown men (unless of course they are even stronger). A Genin better watch their back around Bull for in the battlefield he could break them with ease. Despite the power found in Bull, he is actually a very easy going dog. He has never shown signs of being able to speak but if he were able to he would rarely, if ever, talk much anyway. Bull also gets along very well with Pakkun; seeing as how he lets Pakkun ride on his head. He's a very mellow dog overall, but of course this is different in the battle field.

Specialty: Ninjutsu and Taijutsu
Element: Earth
Jutsu:

Spoiler:

Summoned Creature: Akino
Rank: S

Appearance: He has tan fur and wears sunglasses and wears a Konoha forehead protector around his neck.
Spoiler:

Description: Akino is the head hancho of the Ninken. If you have a problem with anything he is the guy to go to. He is very straightforward, speaks only when necessary, and cracks the whip on the other ninken when he has to. He is good at keeping even dogs the size of Bull in check which makes Urushi easy to deal with. He has powerful teeth and sharp fangs. Most compare him to a wolf but he will tell you that he is in fact a dog and very proud of it. Generations know him as the "Silent Hunter" because of how fast he moves and the experience he has on the battlefield. His nose is better than Pakkun's and can smell a foe up to 700 meters away. He is a little slower than Pakkun (A rank speed). He isn't as strong as Bull but rather close despite his size, most of it being in his jaws, (A rank). His Dexterity is high (A rank) and finally his Stamina is a little lower (A rank). You can pummel this dog as much as you want but it isn't uncommon for him to get back up and take you on again. Any powerful hit (chakra enhanced or pure skill) will make him de-summon but otherwise he can get hit and get back up without being forced to de-summon; given none of his bones are broken.

Specialty: Dom: Ninjutsu
Rec: Fuuinjjutsu (Note: He can write seals in the dirt, etc with his paw)
Element: Water and Earth
Jutsu:
