This ability enables them to split their body into two, the black and white half. While separated, the two can act on their own. When split, they can still perform other techniques. Also, each half does regrow a leg and missing body mass, but doesn't regrow a new eye, ear or arm.

This infiltration technique is characteristic of them. It allows them to merge their body with the ground and flora and travel at very high speed; however, it is noted not to be as fast as teleportation techniques. Their insectivorous plant-like shell has the ability to merge with the ground, because it is tinged with his chakra. Then, using the underground network of organic matter, consisting of things like plant roots and water veins, they can travel everywhere with high speed. Using this technique they can conceal themself in trees and even sand. Once merged, their presence is completely concealed, making it almost impossible to detect them, even by sensory type ninja like Karin. This makes this jutsu perfect for close range spying.

They are able to plant spores in their opponents' bodies, unknown to the opponents themselves since the spores do not contain chakra, rendering them virtually undetectable by standard shinobi sensory techniques. These spores are time-delayed and, once they're activated, grow into copies of the white half. The copies proceed to restrict the targets' movements and absorb their chakra. The absorbed chakra can be transferred to another individual if the copies of White half are able to make contact with the person.

This technique allows the white half to create an exact copy of anyone it has ever touched, down to their chakra. However, it will not be strong enough to fight an extended battle, so its primary purpose is to function as a diversion. The clone retains the appearance of the person even after its "death" and returns to its form of a clone of White half only after the technique is released by the user.

White half can create multiple clones of itself, which can also be used in their Substitute Technique. Only the white half has been seen performing it.

With two seperate minds and the ability to split apart, in most cases it would appear that, the two personalities may not cooperate well together.

A possessor is easily distinguished by two large venus flytrap-like extensions that envelop their head and upper body, giving them a plant-like appearance. When their extensions are open and their head is visible, it is revealed that they has short green hair, yellow eyes, and that their body has two different colored halves. The left side is completely white and the right side black. The black color doesn't extend all the way down their body, as their feet are both white. When they splits into two, the plant-like extensions go down the waist and now have the appearance of spikes, each halve has half of the clothing worn and the missing half is replaced with new body mass.

Unlike the white side, which shows a normal mouth, nose, and eye, the black side shows no visible orifices at all and only shows the iris of the eye. The black half also has white dots along the edges of his body where the two halves meet; these are not flat markings, but rather protrude from his body, like little white bumps. They also has unusually rounded teeth. They possess no fingernails.

According with the two differently colored halves, they seems to have a split personality. The two halves also converse with each other, and occasionally differ in opinion. Despite these individualities, they are able to communicate through their thoughts.

Their main form of a diet appears to be eating the corpses of dead people.
