Village Hidden in the Mist

“We hide in the mist; the grey veil covering our movements. In that cover, we are silent. Our movement is swift; our voices are mute. We cannot speak; we do not wish to give away our secrets. When there is conflict, we aid in the shadows to whom we see fit. When there is peace, we build an army in silence. When there is war…we show no mercy. And in the end, we will be victorious. This is our nindo, Kirigakure no sato way of life.”

Kirigakure no sato is a village that has always been covered in mystery. Two centuries of war and it appears that the hidden mist has always been the recluse of the five great shinobi villages. The shinobi who have hailed from this village are ones who are secretive, ones who hide in the shadows or rather “in the mist”. We cannot say that all that come from this place are shroud in mystery. The Seven Swordsmen of the mist was an active group who specialized in the art of assassination and was ideally anarchists. There have been many purges in the past regarding Kekkei Genkais, one prime example would be the entire slaughter of the Kaguya clan almost half a century before the era of the chosen ones. Kirigakure, as it was in the beginning, still stands in the mist, hiding amongst the shadows and being as sly as a white tailed fox. Their elusiveness draws weary suspicion among the Big Five.

The Shinobi: It is common to see the shinobi who are born in this area to have the ability to manipulate water. Water in itself is free moving, to be able to adapt to whatever container it is poured in. It is temperamental, one minute it is as calm as the creek and the next minute as furious as a tsunami. There have been many evolving abilities that the shinobi have been able to draw out with water being the foundation. Two abilities that are known would be boil release and ice release. In terms of specialties, it has been mixed over the course of time. We see a lot of shinobi of Kiri displaying acrobatic and dexterous skills in the manner of swordplay. A fine example would be the Seven Swordsmen of the mist. Ninjutsu and Genjutsu are in the above average category in terms of deception and assassination. Taijutsu, on one hand, has been taken more of a secretive role. Fifty years before, the eighth Mizukage of the first generation held a particular fondness for Taijutsu. He incorporated well with the additional group he developed which had the sole purpose of assassins. There have been secret arts that only few members of the council have access to and very few martial artist in Kirigakure are masters of the secret arts. There were very few well known medical shinobi, puppeteers and fuuinjutsu wielders. Whether this is because it has never been documented because of scarcity of them or because they have been erased somehow is unknown.



The Village itself is one of the more technological village in the entire world. Fifty years before the modern times, the village were once a village of old and ancient homes and buildings that had been once been modern during the period of the fourth shinobi war and the downfall of the Akatsuki. Several corporations began their roots in Kirigakure and placed very large investments for the economy of water country and for the military of the shinobi village Kirigakure no sato. The no longer is the mist covering over decaying buildings but now the mist itself covers the entire village filled with skyscrapers and districts consisting of the ghettos, the markets, the business, the old and new money, the gangs and poverty, the essentials that combines the mixture of the village hidden in the mist and the technological advancement of a major metropolitan city. Over the period of 20 years, the village began to prosper exponentially allowing more economic growth for the village itself. 20 years before the current, there was a short revolution of the sort when the Mizukage lost control of the a clan that has been in control of Kirigakure for very long period of time. Though the coup failed the clan initially, it left Kirigakure in a sort of limbo for them. As they slowly got back together and slowly began to build back up, the corporations now invest in the village for them to prosper yet again and now support the Mizukage and their military backing to keep them from being attack from neighboring villages and also allow them to set goals behind water country and into other parts of the world.


As of current, there are two Mizukages that rule over the village hidden in the mist. One is the Kaguya Shiro Hazuki and the one that rules beside him is his wife Rika Hazuki . These two shinobi are new to the shinobi world as the great leaders of the mist. Their reign only beginning, there time as Mizukage could be either long lasting or as short as the last Mizukage before them.


As of recent, there hasn't been any whereabouts as to whether the seven swordsmen of the mist will be created or not. Though the movement to inquire the rank and title of swordsmen has not left the minds of the shinobi who have stayed true to the realm of the shinobi. They await for the return of the swordsmen, hoping they will come back. Perhaps the historians who saw them as revolutionaries also seem them as the ones that'll possibly spawn forth a great civil war within Kiri. This is the risk that they must take, this is what may be in store if the seven swordsmen of the mist were to return with that fear lurking in the shadow that someday, anyday, they might do such an act


The men and women who serve the black operations of Kirigakure are never seen or even heard of. Their origins begin in the beginning where they had originally intended them to be a large group of hunter-nins. They specialized in the tracking down nukenin, hunting them down, incapacitating them and returning back to the main headquarters for check-in or disposing them. Their humble begins was also their downfall as the leaders of the hunter nins had lost much support in the eyes of the former Mizukages and were dis banned them here on then. Since then, the hunter nin legacy had slowly died away until the return of the village and when the shinobi world had face the "Period of War" where the sixth, seventh and eight shinobi war had risen out. The Mizukage of that time had created the black operation squadron in order to take upon task that were considered dangerous even for the experienced shinobi at the time. Over the years, they had developed into a well balanced organization that had seen many trips into war and other war like scenarios. It had been recently that the Black Operation Squad had dwindled down after the events of the Shikyo Clan Revolt and almost completely vanished entirely. Now they have returned when the dual Mizukages have taken back the seat of power. It is now run by the enigmatic and eccentric shinobi Sono Kirinonai
