Tracking/Senses:
This skill gives the user a good ability with his senses, being able to track opponents from a distance without them knowing, no matter the ranking the person is most of the time. They have high senses and are able to effectively use their abilities to keep their senses tuned on an opponent. These are your stealth-type characters. The prerequisites for the senses skill is Chakra Control. If you can just track and are not in tune with your senses then there is no prerequisite.

Description: This trait does not only account for attack speed with swords as well. Is trait is more along the lines of enhancing your movements and weapon movements with little to no struggle.

Character's with this trait are extremely adept at ranged attacks, their projectiles rarely miss their target when not met with an outside force.[Requires Weaponry]

.:Birth:.

Abelard was born the son of noblemen in the Morimura Province. From a young age, his parents ignored him, and he was taken care of by maids and other indirect caretakers. He grew up lonely, and spoiled. This, luckily for him, would not end up effecting him in a negative way (he did not end up being a spoiled rotten brat). That said, he was given impeccable care as a child, and was a happy child, as at the time, he couldn't comprehend his loneliness. It seemed to him that he had all that he could ask for, as his young mind went. It wasn't until he grew up a little bit more that he would notice the gap in his relationship with his parents.

.:Childhood Arc:.

Growing up, Abelard learned from a young age that he was shorter than other kids of his age. He grew to have a sort of arch-rival with another young rival. Both he and Abelard shared the goal of going to the Ninja Academy. Abelard also shared a friend with his rival. As a child, Abelard never had to participate in chores or the like that most other children had to deal with.

He discovered as a child that despite his size, he had good strength, and often offered to help the servants do such tasks as chopping wood. He also was very witty, and often enraged his rival with quick lashes of the tongue. Invariably, he would be chased, and then climb a tree (Another innate skill he possessed). As he grew older, his manhood approached. He desired so greatly to become a ninja, but did not know if the dream would ever come to fruition.

As he grew to be around 6, he asked his father for a tutor in the way of swordsmanship. His father, seeing this as another means of not having to deal with his son, bought him the most expensive tutor money could buy. And so, as a young boy, Abelard fueled his loneliness into practicing his swordsmanship, and he became quite good. He was indeed a natural with the blade, and most enjoyed training with it.

He also found himself getting into a great deal of mischief as a young boy. He was often found climbing all over the place, and generally causing a ruckus. This mischievous behavior was a direct result of his parent's paying little to no attention to him. He was also finding himself being bullied constantly. He could usually outrun his bullies, and it was usually the case that it was his own tongue that got him into the situation in the first place. He disliked his father too much to tell him what was going on, and such it continued uninterrupted. He grew older and his skill with the sword improved dramatically. The time of the Drawing was finally near, and unfortunately, even as a nobleman, he was not exempt.

.:The Drawing:.

At the time of the Drawing, the Noblemen were gathered in the Lord of Morimura’s Office. There was also present the various craftmasters, all looking to find an apprentice or more. Each of the Childs’ names was individually called. Abelard’s Rival, being naturally strong and tall, was immediately selected for the Ninja Academy. When they got to Abelard, however, he was refused. He pleaded, but to no avail. Abelard's own father, the lord himself looked over at the battlemaster, but he simply replied "I'm sorry m'lord, a boy like that won't make a fine ninja, he is too short". Abelard's father couldn't care less, really, and so he did not press the issue further. That was when a man stood from the shadows, though nobody had noticed him being there before. He stepped across the room and spoke to the Lord of Morimura. He said whispered something in the Lord Morimura’s ear, and then stepped back. The Lord nodded and then spoke “I’ll consider that”. In fact, Abelard's father could care less about the Ranger's proposal, but anything to get his son out of his hair. He set the piece of paper on his desk. Abelard’s eyes fell on it immediately, wanting to know what it said. The Lord then announced that all apprentices were to leave for a feast, then go to their respective new jobs in the morning. Abelard was to return tomorrow for assignment. Abelard left in a bad mood, but with aching curiosity for what that note held.

He returned home knowing full well that he had to know what the note said. He snuck silently out of his bed and made his way to the Lord’s tower. It was long, but even in the night; he could see the light in the room up above. He snuck silently past the two guards watching the area, and then began his ascent. He climbed quickly, eagerness overtaking his body. He almost fell once, slipping on a weak hold. After a few minutes of scaling the building, he finally made his way to the windowsill. There was no window, and so slipping into the room was very easy. Abelard did so without making any noise.

He crept over to the table, seeing that nobody was there. He saw the piece of paper on the table, and carefully picked it up. He opened it to read what it said. “I would like to take the boy as my apprentice”. Suddenly, a hand grabbed his shoulder and a Lamp turned on. He looked around to find the strange ranger as well as Lord of Morimura looking at him. The ranger looked smug. “You see” he said “I told you he would come”. Abelard bowed his head. “Yes, I suppose you were right, Steven.” The lord of Morimura looked at Abelard. “The only fitting punishment I could see for this crime would be for you to become the Ranger Steven’s Apprentice. Seems fair enough to me” Abelard of course looked aghast and couldn’t tell that the Lord was joking. The Lord of Morimura shook his head and then said “Abelard, report to Steven tomorrow at 7am” he then began walking out of the door. “Oh, and use the stairs on your way down” Abelard nodded furiously, again not realizing that it was a joke, and the Lord sighed before returning to his quarters. Sons really could be such a bother.

.:The Ranger’s Apprentice:.

As an Apprentice to the Ranger Steven, Abelard was made to do work many times a day. He was responsible for keeping the small shack he shared with Steven absolutely spotless. Steven also taught him how to kill, clean, and prepare food. After doing this for several months, Abelard and Steven had already laid the kindling for what would be a long and respectful friendship. Steven would feign annoyance at Abelard’s constant barrage of questions, but in truth the old Ranger enjoyed having the company of someone as young as Abelard.

As time went on, Abelard began his training with a Bow and Arrow. He quickly gained proficiency with the Weapon and later developed skills in the throwing knife as well. Steven was also responsible for teaching Abelard the basic Academy techniques for Ninja. Over many months of training, Abelard would gain prowess in the art of stealth and infiltration, as well as weaponry and ninjutsu.

Abelard was taught the most basic art of the Ranger Clan, the Art of Background Melding, allowing Abelard to slip into the shadows and remain unseen. During his training, he and his previous Rival mended things at a festival that was held for the Apprentices of Morimura. That small act of friendship would act to create the basis of yet another powerful friendship. After a long while of training, Abelard and Steven had to Journey to the Gathering, an annual gathering of the Ranger Clan.

.:The Gathering:.

Abelard and Steven made the long and easy journey to the Gathering in just over 3 days. The meeting site was the same one used for over 300 years. However, upon arrival, they found not joyous festivities, but instead frantic activity. Abelard was told to stay behind as Steven investigated. As it turned out, the Rangers were preparing for an invading force from the North. The Skandians, it seemed, were preparing to make an invasion against the residents of the Grass Country. Steven and Abelard were asked to join the battle, which of course they offered their services without question.The Battle was a long and fierce one, which would eventually lead to an overwhelming victory by the Rangers against the overwhelming Skandian force.

Driven back to the north, the Rangers were responsible for yet another keeping of the peace. For his performance in the anti-invasion skirmish, Abelard was given the rank of full-fledged apprentice. This was with some anxiety. Despite the fact that Rangers in general were not allowed to carry swords, Abelard was allowed to, since he already had exceptional skill in swordsmanship.

.:The Passing of Time:.

Several years passed with very little happening. In this time, Abelard was given the full title of Ranger, accompanied by the Silver Oakleaf necklace. Upon this appointment, he was separated from his mentor and assigned to work as a countryside patroller. During this 10 year period, Abelard gained skills in both his weapons as well as his Ninjutsu. He became the most skilled archer in the entire Ranger Clan, his Accuracy known far and wide. Abelard sported the Green Mottled Cloak well, proud of what he had become.
