The rain that was now running through Konoha was beginning to annoy Ayame right now. It just kept pouring down all day, not letting up for a second to allow just a little bit of dryness to go through. Even the four or five times of singing “rain, rain, go away” for the past ten minutes or so wasn’t allowing the rain to let up, in fact, Ayame could have sworn that it got just a little bit more rainy since then. She just couldn’t wait for the client to get to her position so she could get started already.
Ayame was currently leaning on one of the village gates while sitting with her legs crossed in one of her orange hooded coat to keep the rain from wetting up her body and hair. She’s been sitting there for about fifteen minutes now after receiving her mission from Shihouin. Though they were still living on confusing terms, Ayame and Shihouin were still able to keep the business part of their relationship running smoothly, at least for the good of Konoha. She was still confused about her own position within the village. She still couldn’t shake off what Yamazu had told her earlier “You are the rightful heir of the title of Hokage.” Was he truly serious about that or was he simply messing with her. That didn’t exactly seem like something to joke with but then again, he did seem to be missing a few screws in some areas. But she could tell that he was an honest guy so she really couldn’t make up her mind on the matter.
Ayame brought her right wrist within her sight so she could see the time on her silver watch. It’s been nearly twenty minutes now and still no sign of them. Ayame was growing quite tired of waiting; she shouldn’t even be on this mission in the first place. All she was doing was minding her own business, eating her daily serving of Ramen when some hot shot randomly came over and started hitting on her. Of course, that wasn’t the part that bothered her considering she usually got hit on about every day, but after Ayame had politely refused the man’s invitation to his house, he had actually placed his hands on her waist and went all the up to her chest, so her natural reaction was to take his hand from her body, turn around and slap him. Unfortunately for a lot of people, Ayame had actually forgotten that using her full strength, a slap would cause much more than a red hand tattoo on his cheek. Long story short, she slapped him so hard that he ended up going through the wall of the building and received a concussion from the incident. Something else that Ayame didn’t know was that he was actually a shinobi due for a mission a few hours later, but there was no way that he was going to be able to complete it with a concussion.
Short story even shorter, Ayame was then forced to be his replacement and here she was, waiting for the client and his daughter. The blonde kunoichi went through her coat pocket and pulled out the sheet of paper with the mission details on it. From the looks of things, it was almost certain that she was going to be placed into the inescapable hands of combat from at least above average shinobi. Ayame closed her eyes and sighed at this. ‘All I wanted to do was enjoy my Ramen and now, I’m dragged into this.’ ”Helloooo, are with me, shinobi?” Ayame’s eyes shot open at the sound of someone’s voice, judging from the pitch, it appeared to be a man somewhere within his mid-thirties. She stood up from her position and turned around to see the man who had called out to her and a young girl, who had brown hair tied into a ponytail and bright brown eyes, who looked no more than ten years old holding his hand. “Well, isn’t it just typical for a shinobi to be sleeping on the job. Wasn’t it supposed that Mugen guy taking this mission?” Ayame cocked an eyebrow at this. “Mugen… like an inch or so shorter than me, white hair, five o clock shadow, blue eyes?” Once the man nodded, Ayame simply stated. “Yeah, he’s gonna be out of commission for a few weeks so I’ll be serving as his replacement.” The man simply shrugged at this. “Well, no matter; as long as the job gets done.” The man then gently placed his hand on the head of the young girl. “I’m sure you’ve been given a mission overview so I’ll cut to the chase. This is Tsuki, I want you to protect her with your life and make sure that none of those shinobi dogs lay a finger on her, got it?” Ayame simply nodded her head before the man laid his hand on her back and nudged her along Ayame’s direction. “It’s ok, Tsuki. This woman will protect you.”
Now that Ayame was actually concentrating on the little girl, she couldn’t help but notice that she was quite cute. She was also a bit shy, given the fact that she hesitation quite a bit before slowly making her way towards Ayame. Ayame just smiled sweetly at her as she bent down and held her arms out. “Don’t worry, I won’t let any harm come to you.” Once the little girl made it to her arms, Ayame put her arms around her and picked the girl up, giggling a bit as she buried her face into her top. “Well, don’t just stand there, get going!” A bit startled by the man’s outburst, Ayame nodded her head before dashing through the gates of the village with the child in her arms.
