Abilities Gained: This particular threshold focuses on breathing and image training to purify the chakra. One must imagine their chakra passing through a filter and being refined as they breath correctly. Normal chakra, being a combination of physical energies and mental energies adopts the mindset of it's user to an extent. The spiritual energies involved in the process of making chakra, often dwarf the amount of it's phyiscal counterpart. And through training begining at the age of 12, users of the Black Heaven and Earth Technque, begin training on purifying their chakra through a concept similar to meditation. During this first stage, known as the Origin of Breath, the user focues on increasing their physical strength and purfying the chakra they learn how to create in the Shinobi Academy. When this method is done, the chakras are increased in power and become very strong and it takes considerably less chakra to do techniques. The chakras can now be called "ki". The Ki is a full scale chakra conversion and once complete, the users entire chakra system flows with this 'pure' energy.

The chakra or "ki" cannot mix with with other types of chakra that are more "potent". (Ki is easy to use, refined chakra) These types of chakras are those found in people with bloodlines, demons, spirits, doujutsu, bijuu and curse seals, etc. They do not mix because of pure chakra is of a different make up than normal chakra. The pure chakra repels these other types of chakras like oil does water, the two are not able to mix because of their make up. The purified chakra can only be attempted in someone without those types of powers, someone with a neutral body. When the chakra comes into contact with these types of people, it allows them to survive the dangerous effects of the chakra. Ki is easy to use and is very strong in a physical sense. With The user's physiquie it grants them extreme strength and speed and the ability to use techniques easy. TDuring this threshold, the user will focus on Taijutsu and utilizing the Ki to increase physical attributes and externally manifest it in Taijutsu attacks.


Disadvantages: However, since the ki is easy to manage, it also makes it extremely difficult for them to fight against genjutsu users. If his chakra or "ki" flow would ever come under the control of a genjutsu, he would have a hard time stopping the genjutsu, since his chakra is easy to manage and easy to control. Stopping genjutsu would take a long amount of time, time which could leave them open to attack. If broken, the genjutsu's pain would run a toll on his body, but would soon fade as the ki resumes it's normal flow in his body. During this stage, when others their age may be focusing on producing chakra control, learning elements, the users of the Black Heaven and Earth Technique are focusing on creating and converting Ki, so they always are behind other's their age in some aspects. [This disadvantage encompasses all other stages unless otherwise stated]

Other Effects: Once Advancing through this stage, the user unconsciously adopts the breathing methods, which improves stamina and other physical attributes.


Second Threshold: Origin of Control

Abilities Gained: .During this Threshold, the user, having already mastered the coversion, breathing excersizes and physical arts of the technique move on to one of the more powerful aspects. During the Orgin of Control, the user learns how to acess, create and manifest Ki in the form of ninjutsu which can both be elemental and otherwise. These attacks are then combined with the lessons of the previous stage to strengthen taijutsu attacks or utilize mid-long range attacks. The Ki which is a pure form of energy that reacts quickly to elemental change and is resilient to nearly all forms of chakra besides pure natural energy. The "ki" acts like uranium in a sense, with just a small amount of energy it takes hold to elements on a large scale. By covering his hand in a small amount of ki, The user was able to convert his ki to their element. With amount of "ki" or chakra he used, he should have not be able to create a strong defense. Basically, it allows them to use less chakra to create a better technique. (Techniques still take roughly the same amount of chakra per rank, but they are able to last longer and are stronger than normal)Up against elements, he wins as long as his element is in favor. This doesn't mean he can block elemental attacks with his pure chakra. He still has to defend normally against those. Along as his element is in favor of winning (water>fire), then if he matches the power of the jutsu he will be able to overcome it effortlessly.(figuratively speaking)

Abilities Gained: The third stage of the Black Heaven and Earth is where the first step of the true power is unleashed. The Black Origin, named so because so few get past this stage comes from the belief that the physical; represented in the first stage. And the mental; represented in the second stage can be combined to create what is known as the purest fighting spirit. The black Origin Threshold signifies the moment when one surpasses the limits of the conscious and the subconscious, the enemy and the self to become a fighting spirit.

This stage, unlike the other two is not always active once you progress to it. It can be likened to the eight gates, it is kept in check until the user wishes to release the mental blocks. A gift of the Black Origin comes with both greatly enhanced physical attributes including speed, strength, endurance and dexterity. Their regeneration speed increases by roughly 20% allowing the user to heal minor to moderate wounds within two posts. In addition to the increased physical attributes those who release the Black Origin gain increased mental attributes as well as elemental control. Where as most only access 10% or less of their brain power, releasing this threshold combines the physical with the mental, increasing reaction time, perception and senses. In addition, they also gain innate control of their elements, forgoing all hand signs for base control of their elements through movements.

However, the Black Origin comes at a cost, because of the combination of their body completely with their mind, they gain skill which surpasses those many ranks above them. Yet those that attain this threshold are swallowed up in animal-like emotions, losing their sense of self. They become almost entirely a creature of instinct, unable to tell friend from foe and often they cannot return to their true self once falling into the threshold. Yet all hope is not lost, if their is someone who the user has a close bond to [more than 5 topics with] they may be able to find themselves when confronted by the person.



Taijutsu/Weaponry: Weaponry and Taijutsu are the prime attributes of the users of Ki, required to begin and pass through the first threshold. Therefore, one of these two specialties will always be the dominant specialty of Ki users and upon completing the first threshold, they gain increased attributes relating to these specialties. As a result, they gain a 300 word discount towards Taijutsu training

Ninjutsu: Given that Ki becomes extremely potent towards Ninjutsu, users of Ki often find this as a secondary specialty, focusing more on elemental ninjutsu than otherwise because of the Ki's reaction towards elements. However, because Ninjutsu is not the primary art of Ki, they gain a 100 word increase on training.

Medical: Where most Shinobi's medical arts focus on the fine control of chakra, thus requiring chakra control. Ki medics do not need this ability. By utilizing their Ki they focus on purifying the body of their patients with their Ki, while their medical abilities work on a similar principle, it is impossible for them to learn regular medical techniques, they must create their own and adapt them to Ki, causing them to require a 300 word training increase on medical techniques.

Fuuinjutsu/Genjutsu Upon completing the first threshold, users of Ki lose the ability to use these two arts entirely.
